I grew Buddleia davidii [not sure which one] several years ago, about in California, Maryland.
Stunningly different and showy, few shrubs can rival this outstanding selection. The long, cascading panicles of lavender-purple flowers are sweetly fragrant and attract many colorful pollinators, especially the tiger swallowtails. The silver foliage keeps it interesting when the flowers are gone. A big grower, plant it where it can stretch its. Mar 29, Prune your Buddleia davidii in early spring or late winter. Pruning is best done before new growth starts in the spring.
In climates with cold winters, the plant will most likely die back completely. Recommendations at that time were to cut it back in late March, early April. Sometimes that didn't happen, but it surely did attract butterflies and bees, regardless.
